Generations of fire fighters have come to know the value of a vehicle mounted, easy to operate and effective firefighting skid units. In the South African context, these types of equipment have become known as a “Bakkie Sakkie”. The term “Bakkie Sakkie” is an Afrikaans name that translates into “a bag on a vehicle – literally – “a container with water on the back of a pick-up truck” and this is exactly where this equipment functions at its best. The concept of a sturdy tank, reliable engine and pump combinations with compact and effective hose and hose reels – all conveniently packaged in a compact configuration for mounting inside your Pickup truck bed, has been around for many years. For more than 21 years (starting n 1999) ANCO Manufacturing have re-designed and updated the original concept to what is today considered the leading product in the market.
